To be hosted at Mount Isa's Buchanan Park Entertainment Centre Saturday November 9th the 2019 event promises a gala themed evening full of festivities and entertainment.
Celebrating Northern Outback businesses; the 2019 Jemena Northern Outback Business Awards recognise outstanding contributions to the growth of our economy and provide a vibrant showcase of innovation and progression from the region's businesses.
"Northern Outback" encompasses the local Government areas of Boulia, Burke, Carpentaria, Cloncurry,
Croydon, Doomadgee, Etheridge, Flinders, McKinlay, Mornington Island, Mount Isa and Richmond.
Nominations are NOW OPEN for the 2019 Northern Outback Business Awards.
Nominate an eligible business or customer service hero for any of the below categories via our quick and easy online link, with nominations closing OCTOBER 4 (business submissions due by October 18).

2019 Award Categories & Prizes- ALL NEW!
Rising Star (5 or Less Employees) Trophy & $500 cash
This is for those new to business (less than 3 years in operation) with 5 or less employees that are just starting out in their chosen field but already making a significant impression in the region.
Rising Star (More than 5 Employees) Trophy & $500 cash
This is for those new to business (less than 3 years in operation) with more than 5 employees that are just starting out in their chosen field but already making a significant impression in the region.
Small and Successful Trophy & $750 cash
For businesses that may be small but are making waves and achieving success across all facets of business. This category is open to businesses with an annual turnover less than $3 million.
Medium Mover Trophy & $750 cash
For businesses that are kicking goals in every area. The category is open to businesses with an annual turnover over $3 million
Social Change Maker with thanks to The Buffs Club Trophy & $500 cash
For organisations where a positive social impact is at the core of their purpose. They are actioning innovative solutions to address social issues and better the region. Open to not-for-profit, social enterprise and profit-for-purpose organisations (contributing a minimum of 10% of their profits back to the cause).
Workplace of Choice with thanks to Mt Isa Isuzu UTE Trophy & $500 cash
For businesses who value their employees and realise that looking after them results in better outcomes and higher productivity. They demonstrate leadership in the growth of their people, and show commitment to staff development, incentives and work/life balance.
People’s Choice with thanks to Mount Isa Mines Trophy & $500 cash
Voted for by the people, this Award is for businesses that have gone above and beyond. It is an award that aims to encourage innovation, customer service, growth and excellence. All nominated businesses who provide a submission are eligible for public voting.
Hall of Fame Trophy & Perpetual Plaque
Developed to acknowledge and celebrate consistency in superior business practices The Hall of Fame concept recognises award recipients who have won at least one category in three separate years.
Business of the Year with thanks to Jemena Trophy, $2,000 cash & $3,000 digital marketing package thanks to Localsearch
Recognises the very best from across our region. The winning business, through its outstanding achievements, will emanate business excellence and strengths across all areas of operations and highlight the Northern Outback as a destination of choice for business. All nominated businesses who provide a submission are eligible for consideration for this award.
Customer Service Hero - Community Sector Trophy
Includes all volunteer-based positions where time is provided for sporting, not-for-profit and community-based organisations
Customer Service Hero - Trades & Skilled Sector Trophy
Includes all services where qualified professionals are required to deliver the relevant service
Customer Service Hero - Retail & Service Sector with thanks to Localsearch Trophy
Includes all service-based positions that involve customer relations without the need for a trade qualification

Tickets for the 2019 Jemena Northern Outback Business Awards will be $125 per person and include a 3-course themed dinner, entertainment and customised gift.
Tickets will be available from the Mount Isa Civic Centre box office or online system from October 1... stay tuned!

2019's gala event will feature live entertainment by former Voice Australia finalists Trent Bell and Tim Conlon along with surprise local acts on the night!
Guiding us through the evening will be special guest Emcee and everybody in the Northern Outback's favourite radio announcer Jodie Shepherd from 4LM!

By simply purchasing a ticket and attending the Gala Awards Dinner on Saturday November 9 you will go in the running to WIN the Ibis Styles Mount Isa Lucky Door Prize, consisting of a 'Pamper Package' gift voucher entitling the bearer to a nights accommodation in a superior room for two at the Ibis Styles Verona Mount Isa Hotel, a bottle of bubbly and grazing platter on arrival and dinner for two in their on-site restaurant!
